WERRIBEE KAREN BAPTIST CHURCH

In John 4 we see Jesus crossing cultures and breaking all kinds of societal rules to reach out to a Samaritan woman. Jesus looked past her religious background, her sin, and her gender to invite her to follow Him. He teaches us how to look past all these things and see people as individuals created in God’s image.

In May 2018 our Karen congregation celebrated 10 years of ministry with WBC. Wyndham has had a growing population of Karen people since the mid 2000’s. The Werribee Karen Baptist Church church began in March of 2008 with a couple of families after enquiring, and then on May 4th  2008 they officially formed with 17 families. Gail Moe Dwai was the first pastor of the new congregation and continues in this role today. From those first days the church has grown to over 350 in weekly attendance with over 500 calling Werribee’s Karen Baptist Church home.

We are grateful that God has allowed us the privilege to be witness to His great work in the Karen community.
