Have you ever found yourself caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life, only to realize that you've forgotten to pause and rest? In a world where busyness is often glorified, it's easy to neglect the importance of rest. Last week, we began a series called "Time Out," exploring the idea of taking intentional rest as we step into the new year. Today, let's delve into what it means to be well-seasoned and find peace in solitude.

Disrupting the Plan

Do you ever feel like you're constantly chasing after your to-do list, whether it's at work, at home, or in your community? We often get so engrossed in our daily routines that we forget to disrupt our plans intentionally. Jesus understood the significance of this disruption. He encouraged his disciples to take a break, to withdraw from their busy schedules.

As we navigate through 2024, consider this: be prepared to disrupt your plans. Don't wait for the end of the day or for things to calm down. Don't let circumstances or others dictate your schedule. Instead, take the initiative to set aside time for yourself and for God. Disrupt your plan daily, not just on Sundays or special occasions.

Intentional Solitude

Solitude is more than just being alone; it's about finding inner completeness and tranquility. Jesus often withdrew to spend time in solitude and communion with God. In our fast-paced lives, we must be intentional about seeking solitude. It's not about withdrawing and thinking about work or distractions; it's about being present with God.

The Meaning of Shalom

The Hebrew word "Shalom" encompasses the idea of well-being, wholeness, and completeness. It's not just the absence of war but the presence of inner peace and fullness. Jesus cared holistically for the health of his followers—body, mind, and spirit.

As we move forward in 2024, here are three challenges to consider for a well-seasoned life:

1. Disrupt Your Plan Daily: Make it a habit to disrupt your daily routine intentionally. Create opportunities to pause and reflect, even in the midst of your busy life.

2. Embrace Intentional Solitude: Seek moments of solitude where you can be present with God. Allow yourself to disconnect from distractions and connect with your inner self and your Creator.

3. Prioritize Well-being: Understand that well-being is holistic. Just as Jesus cared for the holistic health of his disciples, prioritize your health—physically, mentally, and spiritually.

In a world that often glorifies busyness, let us remember the importance of disrupting our plans, finding peace in solitude, and nurturing our holistic well-being. As you embark on this new year, may you be well-seasoned in every aspect of your life, and may you find the peace and completeness that Shalom brings.

So, how will you disrupt your plan today and find peace in solitude? What steps will you take to prioritize your well-being in 2024?
